About Evilrooster
The Evilrooster Bindery is owned and run by Abi Sutherland. She has been binding books since early 2002, specialising in traditional fine binding structures and leatherwork.
The books and boxes on this site are made by hand, using classic techniques and archival materials. Although she will occasionally use pre-made book blocks for photograph albums, Abi usually works from flat sheets or mass-market publications. Abi also binds blank books from time to time.
Abi binds to her own taste or on commission. Prices and timescales for commissioned bindings can be negotiated on an individual basis. The Evilrooster Bindery does undertake some edition work, but most of Abi's bindings are unique.
Abi is a member of the Society of Bookbinders, the British bookbinding association. She also runs another book arts site called the Bookweb, which contains her non-commercial bindings and extensive bookbinding instructions.
